KipDeskBot

KipDeskBot reads a business's public web pages when the owner sets up their KipDesk assistant, and again when the owner asks it to re-read their site. It identifies itself as:

KipDeskBot/1.0 (+https://kipdesk.com/bot)

What it does

• Reads only public pages, the same ones any visitor can see. It never logs in or fills in forms.
• Follows your robots.txt. If robots.txt can't be loaded because of a server error, it reads nothing.
• Reads at most about 40 pages per visit, a few at a time.
• Never tries to get past bot protection. If your site blocks it, the owner is asked to teach their assistant by hand instead.

Block or allow it

To block it, add this to your robots.txt:

User-agent: KipDeskBot
Disallow: /

To allow it when other robots are blocked, add a section with User-agent: KipDeskBot and Allow: /, and allow user agents containing “KipDeskBot” in your firewall or security plugin.
